North American Product Stewardship Study Tour
This September, the Global Product Stewardship Council is conducting a product stewardship study tour in conjunction with the premier product stewardship events in North America. Let us know if you are interested in attending some or all of the events.
Starting in Toronto on 19 September, we’ll visit both of the Sims Recycling Solutions Canada e-waste recycling plants, including the state of the art Mississauga, Ontario plant. These will be followed by meetings with Stewardship Ontario, Waste Diversion Ontario and the CleanFARMS program.
Then to Halifax for the Conference on Canadian Stewardship 20-21 September, where GlobalPSC Executive Committee members will present on a range of product stewardship topics.
We plan on meeting 22 September with representatives of a range of programs at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel. These will be followed by site visits on 23 September of Atlantic Canada Electronics Stewardship (ACES) Drop Off Depots that collect beverage containers and waste paint, along with electronics, as well as visiting two processors that carry out preliminary dismantling of electronic equipment in Nova Scotia.
We’re planning on site visits with paint and carpet recyclers on 26 September in Portland, Oregon.
We are holding a special GlobalPSC breakfast seminar on 27 September in conjunction with the Product Stewardship Institute and the 7th Annual National Product Stewardship Forum in Portland (taking place 27-29 September). Key representatives of the British Columbia Ministry of Environment will discuss the implications of recent requirements to implement stewardship programs for collection and recycling of packaging and printed paper in BC. The event will be held at the conference hotel, the Doubletree Portland. Registration for the breakfast seminar will be free for GlobalPSC members.
The GlobalPSC has been invited to provide a global perspective at the Product Stewardship Forum. Again, there will be strong representation by the GlobalPSC and our members.
These are excellent opportunities to network with product stewardship practitioners and policymakers and to share international experience. We hope you can join us.
