Additional Services for GlobalPSC Members and Prospective Members
As we approach our third year of operations, the Global Product Stewardship Council continues to expand the services we offer to members (with their offices or facilities now in 11 countries and operating worldwide) and prospective members. In addition to our members-only Knowledge Base, we have recently created a program database with specifics made available to GlobalPSC members. We encourage all knowledgable parties to submit program information for verification and posting. All contributors are acknowledged in the database.
To facilitate international transactions, we have also implemented instantaneous currency conversion for eight major currencies (AUD, CAD, EUR, GBP, JPY, NZD, SGD, USD) on our Become a Member page and secure payment gateway.
Members that agree to be listed publicy are detailed on the GlobalPSC Members page, where members log in to access the Knowledge Base and other members-only information. Member Profiles are also available for public promotion and sharing of program results. All members are encouraged to ensure that their user logins and member profiles are kept current.
British Columbia’s Recycling Handbook
British Columbia’s Recycling Handbook is a collaboration of fifteen stewardship agencies that operate extended producer responsibility (EPR) programs within the province.
All participating stewards contributed to the content and funding of this publication designed by GlobalPSC Corporate Member Encorp Pacific to provide consumer awareness and convenience of recycling.
This link takes you to the fourth edition of the handbook, issued in December 2012. Over 6,000 hard copies have already been distributed along with hundreds of web downloads, and thousands of views. A direct link to a PDF copy is available here.
A new video on BC’s product stewardship model is also now available by clicking on the title for this post.
Australia Reports 63.8% Recycling Rate for Packaging in 2012
The Australian Packaging Covenant (APC) has announced that the overall recycling rate for post-consumer packaging in Australia is 63.8% for 2012. Collaborative product stewardship actions have led to this considerable improvement in the recycling rate from the 39% baseline established in 2003. The establishment of the Packaging Covenant itself has had a direct contribution to the increased national recycling rate. APC funded projects have accounted for up to 32.4% of the overall increase in recycling tonnes from 2005-2012. There have been increases in recycling tonnes for all but one material type. Additional information is available here.
